History:
This 2010 Kia Soul was purchased in 2017 with 84000 miles from Janesville Kia.
My elderly mom drove the car, mostly for errands in town.
The scratches on the body work occurred when mom was parking the car in the under-building parking area (tight space), as there was a concrete pillar next to her parking stall.
She no longer drives due to her age, and I have been driving the car for the last two years, thus I have a very good handle on any issues with this vehicle.
Yearly Maintenance:
Check brake pads
- make sure pads move freely in carriers (address if not)
Check brake caliper free movement in carrier
- grease sliding guide pins
Keep brake rotors/spindles from rusting with coat of bluing
Grease spark plugs with anti-seize compound
Change engine oil and filter (I drive less than 3000 miles per year)
Mechanical Issues:
Slight exhaust leak fixed (see picture)
- this was solved by fashioning two aluminum j-hook brackets
- the brackets do a good job holding the two sections of exhaust together
- the car exhaust audible level is very low
TPMS light activated on dash (Tire Pressure Management System)
- I do not plan to address issue (I keep tires properly inflated)
No check engine light shown
No ScanGauge codes shown
No engine oil or coolant leaks
Various body/paint scratches
- where rust could occur, I apply poly-varnish to area with Q-tip once a year
Clear-coat peeling in various spots on front of car
Electrical Issues:
Remote key-less entry circuit causes slight battery drain
- If the car sits for one month, the battery definitely needs charging
- I disable this fuse manually to stop issue
Selling Price:
The mechanical condition is very good, and the cosmetic issues are rated as good.
Kelly Blue Book lists the mean value for this particular vehicle at $4700, in very good condition, and $4000 in good condition.
I have split the difference between these two prices.
