Public Works is seeking a Stormwater Engineering Technician to inspect, maintain, monitor and document the City's stormwater management practices.
This position also facilitates public education and outreach.
Hiring Range: $28.
55-$30.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs basic engineering calculations and design.
Prepares and/or administers public works contracts of moderate difficulty.
Prepares routine engineering studies and reports, contract specifications, quantity estimates and contract payments.
Prepares and administers the Storm Water Public Education and Outreach Program.
Develops educational materials and conducts education and outreach.
Prepares and administers the Storm Water Public Involvement and Participation Program.
Responds and investigates Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination.
Conducts long-term maintenance inspections for privately owned stormwater management practices.
Documents inspections, specifies corrective maintenance and conducts follow-up.
Maintains and inventory of city owned and operated stormwater management practices, such as wet detention ponds, bioretention devices, infiltration basins, permeable pavement, proprietary sedimentation devices, etc.
Conducts inspections and monitoring of City owned and operated stormwater management practices.
Coordinates with other City Departments Storm Water Pollution Prevention documentation and assists with the preparation of the annual municipal separate storm sewer system annual report.
Conducts internal training and education related to stormwater management at City owned facilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of the principles, practices and materials of public works construction.
Basic knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices related to public works projects.
Considerable knowledge of storm water and erosion control best management practices.
Considerable knowledge of natural resources practices as they relate to storm water and erosion control best management practices.
Good record keeping and problem-solving skills.
Ability to utilize a computer and the required software including experience with GIS, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work the required hours of the position.
May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the following activities: Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
May be required to work with small quantities of hazardous chemicals and/or respond to discharges of hazardous substances.
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping.
Ability to focus for long periods of time on projects.
