Position: Product Configuration Manager
Status: Fulltime
Shift: 1st
Position Summary:
The Product Configuration Manager/Continuous Improvement position assists and leads various team members in maintaining and improving quoting and ordering custom products processes and procedures.
This ensures proper information flow throughout entire order fulfillment value stream from quoting through delivery and includes after sales parts and service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Defines and manages equipment configuration rules
Maintains and improves product models, attributes, and options in designated configuration software
Oversees parts, pricing and labor costs in configurator
Reviews and approves all configuration changes and updates
Facilitates configurator process audits
Assist in finalizing quote/bid information for senior leader reviews and approvals
Coordinates and improves bill of materials structures
Improves business processes from quoting to order entry through better standards and procedures
Leads small teams in solving business problems associated with BOMs structure, quoting, and order entry procedures
Reviews and coordinates configurator tool infrastructure changes to ensure impacts to configuration management data are properly addressed
Ensures bill of materials accuracy for online after sales catalogs and product manuals
Qualification and Skills:
Basic knowledge of chassis, manufactured equipment, vendor materials
Effective organizational and prioritization skills
Knowledge of configurator and ERP software
Ability to solve problems utilizing common lean and other continuous improvement tools
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and work instructions.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Desired Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree desired, or equivalent years of experience
3 years of bill of material development, product configuration and/or production routing experience
Project management certificate desired
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt desired
