Summary:
Under the direction of the MPC Group Leader, the MPC Team Leader (TL) is responsible for performance of the daily work activities to drive the achievement of daily company metrics.
Essential Responsibilities:
Train, coach, and mentor an integrated Materials Team establishing performance standards, evaluating individual and team performance, ensuring company policies are adhered to, and meeting leaderships goals using PSIs IMPACT values (Innovation, Motivation, Passion, Accountability, Communication, Trust).
Operate and instruct team members to safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment to safely and efficiently move inventory and materials of various dimensions around the warehouse and production facility in accordance with safety regulations such as those administered by OSHA.
Lead daily Team Based problem solving at the shop floor level with a Built-In-Quality focus at the Level 4/5 (BPD) Business Plan Deployment Cube.
Facilitate and/or participate in Kaizen Problem Solving Activities, and other team-based problem solving such as Blue Card problem solving, etc.
Supports the creation and revision of Standardized Work documentation in collaboration with the Core Team Leaders and Industrial Engineering group by implementing and providing training for Standardized Work and updates to the Operator Certification Flex Chart.
Investigate internal and external quality issues, utilizing a disciplined data driven systems and processes at the shop floor level and take a leadership role in containment activities and implementation of (ICAs) Initial Corrective Action and PCAs (Permanent Corrective Actions).
Perform Process Verification Audits on a daily basis, ensuring the equipment and power vehicles are in proper working order by conducting required pre-trip inspections per checklist.
Accurately report production through Epicor transactions and ensure continuous flow of materials to production via the Kanban material supply process.
Work closely with the Lean Coordinator or Manufacturing Engineering to implement continuous improvement and Lean principles or identify & document any project challenges and opportunities.
As needed, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds of materials to assist in production.
Learn and execute team lifts for items over 40 pounds.
Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment, navigating the plant with alert behavior, operating power tools and machines according to instructions, and disposing of waste properly.
All other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or management.
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Engineering discipline preferred, High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience including the ability to apply math (fractions, ratios, measurements) and to read, comprehend, and convert instruction manuals/diagrams into work required
Demonstrated understanding or success in one or more of the following Lean Manufacturing applications and practices: Kaizen, Business Plan Deployment, Standardized Work Documentation
Proven experience and/or demonstrated aptitude to effectively use or train others to use the following equipment supporting the Materials group at PSI: cranes, lift trucks and other warehouse equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong Computer skills, including Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to create Standardized Work documentation, forms and Visual Standards
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and fellow employees
Requires a good command of the English language (Spanish bi-lingual a plus)
