Process Engineer – Injection Molding
The Injection Molding Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining molding guidelines and optimize processes for efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Also ensure production feasibility, implement manufacturing strategies, and investigate root causes.
This person will establish procedures, supports new product launches, verify processes, troubleshoots and assists production areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proven experience as an Injection Molding Process Engineer within the injection molding industry.
Preferably with medical device manufacturing experience.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles to identify and resolve process-related issues.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on precision, accuracy, and quality.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to manage mold validations/qualifications.
(IQ/OQ/PQ)
Ability to manage new equipment qualifications.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
Develops, coordinates and troubleshoots the manufacturing process of plastic injection molding using various types of resins.
Develops the injection molding process for new tooling.
This includes all molding machine parameters, peripheral equipment such as chillers and dryers, and take out robot programming.
Troubleshoots processing problems manufacturing has for quality issues including dimensional issues, flash, short shots, burn areas, flow marks & bubbles etc.
Makes improvements to molding process to reduce cycle times to the lowest time possible without sacrificing part quality.
Work with Production to improve mold change over times eliminating all waste during the internal and external change over elements.
Reviews new & existing mold tooling issues with Tooling Engineers and Mold Maintenance.
Prepare and maintain molding process workbooks.
Interact with production supervisor(s) for scheduling and troubleshooting requirements.
Coordinate and train Set-up technicians to improve OEE, and 5s on Injection Molding machines.
Develops processes and trouble shoots manufacturing/injection molding process problems.
Reduces scrap and improves efficiency and cycle times.
Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate the manufacturing/injection molding processes.
New tool design reviews.
Assists in training supervisors, leads, operators and maintenance staff in the safe and proper usage of equipment and tooling.
Assists in training of all personnel on the proper tools needed to carryout the safe and effective
Provides process direction to injection molding set up technicians.
· 10 years Injection molding experience required.
· Decoupled Molding Principles.
· Requires good communication, people skills to work well with other departments, customers.
· Ability to write technical reports and prepare and make effective presentations.
· Engineering degree a plus but not required.
· Master Molder certification is a plus.
Leadership or project management experience is a plus.
Lead cross functional team activities to identify top issues, plan and implement appropriate corrective actions, and track and validate effectiveness.
Ability to mentor and guide other team members.
Proficiency in the English language is a must.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
The employee must be able to walk steps between the floors in the building regularly.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Workplace environment is indicative of a manufacturing plant and standard precautions must be taken.

QUALIFICATIONS
Polymer Science Engineering degree preferred.
10 plus years of experience in an injection molding shop with emphasis on process problem solving.
Must be capable of working with computers and applicable programs - Microsoft Office applications including Project.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.
