SUMMARY This position is responsible for the supervision of the Sanitation crew in Toast, Puff Pastry, and Layer Cake, and to provide training and technical support for employees to insure maximum efficiencies within the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Schedule daily crewing requirements.
• Schedule and maintain SAP work related to Sanitation Department.
• Ensure that all equipment that has been used in production is disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and sanitized properly.
• Insure that Sanitation employees follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment where required.
• Assist with training all Sanitation employees in lock-out, confined space, and bloodborne pathogen procedures, and ensure that these procedures are followed.
• Establish acceptable guidelines for Sanitation employees to follow to assure that the plant is kept clean and sanitized.
• Order weekly and monthly supplies for the department.
• Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices are followed.
• Consistently maintain a safe working environment including prompt response to items needing maintenance attention, and awareness and monitoring of employee practice.
• Conduct two safety talks per month with the entire crew.
• Provide thorough accident investigation and complete accident reports on a timely basis.
• Conduct safety proctor meetings • Insure that newly hired and transferred employees receive the proper orientation prior to starting their job, including ISO work instruction training.
• Ensure that proper training is planned and provided to all new employees.
• Monitor performance progress of all new employees.
• Analyze and resolve work problems; or assist workers in solving work problems.
• Prepare accurate and detailed performance appraisals including probationary reviews and annual reviews.
• Conduct monthly Work Group Meetings.
• Assist with the scheduling of vacations for employees within the department.
• Assist and train leaders.
• Assist in creating job procedures (SSOPs).
• Review and approve employee timecards in the Time and Attendance System.
• Assumes responsibility for the Quality System requirements defined in 401 of the Pepperidge Farm, Inc.
– Downingtown Plant Quality Procedures Manual.
• In the absence of the Manager, Quality Assurance, the appropriate responsibilities will be shown utilizing the organizational chart to cover critical food safety responsibilities.
• The above reflects the typical duties of the job.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 40-50 non-supervisory employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associates degree from a two-year college is preferred; three to six years of previous production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS Computer proficiency is preferred in the following: Lotus Notes, Windows-based software applications (Word, Excel, Access), the Kronos T&A and SAP System.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, the noise level in the plant is usually loud.

Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $47,600-$79,800 Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
