Summary:
The Forklift Material Handler – Inside Driver is responsible for All inside material handling including accurately delivering & removing ALL components to Line 2, 5, and 10.
This position may assist in moving Finished Goods to Finished Goods warehouse for Line 2 and/or Line 5 as directed by Shipping Supervisor.
This position may also assist in moving equipment inside as per request.
***This is a 2nd shift M-TH 2:30pm-1am position**** Essential functions: Responsible to operate and maintain a sit-down/and/or stand-up forklift (gas or electric) safely, and for following all safety policies and procedures.
Responsible Daily to ensure knowledge of work orders Lines 2, 5, and 10 are working on – via Schedule Board in Receiving Office.
Responsible to ensure accurate delivery of ALL components per work order to Line 2, 5, and Line 10.
Responsible to ensure pallets of cans are safely loaded onto the de-palletizer machine.
Responsible to ensure correct cans are loaded by following de-palletizer procedure.
Responsible to follow procedure to record on staging paperwork components that have been moved between warehouses during work order production.
Responsible to ensure Production Lines do not run out of materials thus stopping the line -by following the staging procedure for number of pallets of each component to be at each line.
Responsible to ensure staging paperwork for next work order has been located; materials have been located in staging location and has approval stickers on it – communicate any issues to Warehouse Manager.
Responsible to ensure components for next work order have been delivered 2 hours prior to the next work order starting or as per request from the Line Material Handler.
Responsible to complete inventory transfer sheets when moving any components from warehouse to warehouse; warehouse to production lines, or Returns from Production Lines Responsible to ensure Returns are properly tagged with IKI label and/or certified count sticker if required and delivered to designated Returns location in Warehouse 900 unless otherwise directed.
Responsible for returning all dunnage (top frames, slip sheets, and pallets) from Lines 2, 5, and 10 to designated dunnage location in warehouse 900 unless otherwise directed – must ensure proper banding and separation by can supplier.
Responsible to remove scrap cans at end of shift from Line 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 via forklift dumper attachment to open top dumpster separated by steel and aluminum.
Responsible to communicate in a positive manner via radio/ or in person with Line Supervisor/ and or Line Material Handler.
Responsible at end of shift to ensure lines are properly stocked for next hour of running.
Responsible to communicate via end of shift procedure/checklist to incoming Inside Driver to ensure all are on the same page.
Responsible to communicate to Warehouse Manager any noted shortages or issues reported from Line Material handlers with the delivery of materials to the Lines.
Responsible to notify Warehouse Manager of any additional requests from the Lines for materials that have not been staged.
Effectively practice and promote positivity and teamwork in all duties.
Other tasks as assigned by Warehouse Manager.
Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts Maintain good housekeeping in area and adhere to Company Safety Policies Qualifications Knowledgeable on safety practices, OSHA requirements and 5S best practices Lifting items between 25 and 50 pounds required 2-4 years in a forklift material handling position.
Ability to operate forklift at heights up to 50 feet required Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time required Team Player with strong oral and written communication skills in English, who adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, changes approach or method to best fit the situation and deals with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Dedicated to completing the daily tasks required, both directed and implied Ability to move materials within the warehouse both physically and systematically Sense of urgency – act with the realization that efficiency is vital to success Highly collaborative – collaboration is the fuel of our business, whether it is between employees, departments or customers.
Understanding of production work orders/ internal/external inventory transfers in high volume warehouse environment Good cross function communication skills Interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to handle stressful situations with perseverance and professionalism Proven ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with both internal partners and external clients Work Environment: Manufacturing and Warehousing Environment Areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather Protective gear will be required (for eyes, ears, and feet) Hours: M-TH 2:30pm-1am Position requires ability to work overtime, varying start times and weekends dependent on business need.
Education/Experience: High School education or equivalent Previous forklift experience required Proven demonstration of safe operation of forklift and other power moving equipment Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1am
